Evliya Celebi Way

The Evliya Celebi Way - Long distance walking & riding route.
This is the guidebook to Turkey's new long-distance Cultural Route, complete with route description, map, historical background, and places to see. The route follows the Ottoman gentleman adventurer Evliya Celibi on his way to Mecca in 1671; it runs for 600km from the Sea of Marmara via Bursa, Kutahya and Afyon to Usak and Simav. The route follows, as far as possible, ancient paved roads and visits the cities, sights and tiny villages that Evliya rode through and recorded in his "Seyatname" ("Book of Travels"). It can be explored by walkers, horse-riders and bikers. The UN has declared Evliya 'Man of the Year' for 2011, the 400th anniversary of his birth. This route is a practical addition to these celebrations - it enables modern travellers to directly experience Evliya's life, times and travels. It is brought to you by the noted Ottoman historian and author of "Osman's Dream", Caroline Finkel, and the originator of 'The Lycian Way', Kate Clow.

Kackar

The Kaçar - Turkey's Black Sea Mountains Trekking - july 2012
The Kackar Mountains are part of the Pontic Alps, a glaciated, granite mountain range which hugs the south coast of the Black Sea, extending from the Caucasus towards Istanbul. The mountain range is lushly wooded on the north, with pines succeeded at lower levels by chestnut, hornbeam and beech trees, with tea plantations and hazlenut groves spilling down towards the waves. The contrasting southern slopes are patched by summer pastures where black bulls graze and lakes, springs and streams are plentiful and clear. This guidebook and map describes 32 trekking routes in Turkey's Kackar mountains, ranging from half-day walks to multi-day treks. You can cross the passes between the granite spires by paved pack-horse routes or walk traditional footpaths between timeless villages and high pastures where hardy locals graze their flocks. The guide also includes comprehensive historical and cultural details of the area and clear colour photographs. The guide includes a 2 sided full colour contour map, 75cm X 48cm. It is an essential guide for a relatively un-chartered trekking destination.

Lycian Way

The Lycian Way
Turkey's first long distance walk ed.2014

The Lycian Way is Turkey's first and most popular long distance walking route. It has been extended by 2 days and now ends at the famous climbing walls at Geyikbayiri, 25km from Antalya. This new 2014 edition of the book includes all route updates and is designed to be used with the new Lycian Way i-phone application.

The Lycian Way, Turkey's first long-distance walk, celebrates its 10th birthday in 2009. This 500km coastal trail has risen from obscurity to international acclaim, featured in "Time" magazine and selected by the BBC as one of the world's 30 best walks. As the route matures, the walker profile is changing from dedicated backpacker to supported trekker, active holidaymaker and enthusiast for archeology and local culture. The route remains stunningly beautiful, snaking over the steep coastal cliffs, dipping to isolated beaches, climbing through cedar forest. This is the 2009, 3rd edition of the official route guide. The book contains detailed route and historical site descriptions, altitude profiles and a large detachable map. Route updates, downloadable GPS files, accommodation and transport information and links to firms providing holidays on the Lycian Way are all on the website.
